Marin Co.: Man Arrested For Alleged Rape Of Elderly Woman, Kidnapping Her Daughter

Marin County Sheriff's deputies arrested an at-home medical caretaker they say raped the elderly woman who was in his care last weekend, among other allegations.

At 5:33 p.m. Sunday, deputies received a report about a caretaker who allegedly brutally attacked his elderly patient and her adult daughter, before fleeing the residence.

The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Yumi Zingkhai of Rohnert Park, took care of an elderly female patient who has memory related issues and is unable to care for herself or make any decisions on her own behalf.

The adult daughter of the patient arrived at the residence and allegedly witnessed Zingkhai raping her mother. When the daughter yelled at Zinghkai to stop, she alleges he grabbed her by the throat and choked her until she lost consciousness.

Police said Zingkhai then dragged her to the kitchen, where she regained consciousness. Zinghkai allegedly held her at knife point, threatening to kill her if she called the police.

After nearly two hours of allegedly being held captive while her life was threatened, she convinced Zinghkai to leave the home. He left and the daughter called 911.

Police said Zingkhai went home and told his girlfriend he was suicidal but needed to return to his employer's home. The girlfriend accompanied him in the vehicle and, while she attempted to call 911 about his suicidal statements, Zinghkai allegedly took her phone and began to beat her while they drove. Zingkhai allegedly struck his girlfriend multiple times in the vehicle.

Police were at the home when Zinghkai arrived. He tried fleeing and allegedly pushed his girlfriend from the moving vehicle, from which she escaped without further injuries.

Police apprehended Zinghaki as he attempted to flee.

Zinghkai was arrested on suspicion of multiple crimes, including rape, attempted murder, elder abuse against dependent adult, kidnapping, lewd and lascivious act by caretaker on dependent adult, battery with serious bodily injury, robbery, false imprisonment, dissuading a witness, destroying evidence, displaying/brandishing a weapon, domestic violence, and damage to victims' phone attempting to call 911. He's being held, without bail, pending arraignment.
