Vikings HC Kevin O'Connell speaks at Khyree Jackson funeral
Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell spoke on the toughness of the late Khyree Jackson at a funeral held on Friday for the rookie cornerback who was killed in a car accident earlier this month. O'Connell said Jackson opted to play through shoulder pain in camp despite encouraging the fourth-round pick to seek treatment. "I wouldn't have held it against him one bit if he decided it was time to fix that shoulder," O'Connell said. "... He looked at me, and said, 'Nope, I can play. I have to be out there with my brothers. I would rather do what I have to do and fight through it to be out there and try to help my team win.'" Jackson, 24, was expected to compete for a starting spot after the Vikings selected him out of Oregon in April's NFL Draft. Jackson was one of three killed in a three-car crash in Prince George's County, Md., in the early hours of July 6. Isaiah Hazel, 23, and Anthony Lytton Jr., 24, were also killed. The three were football teammates at Dr. Henry A. Wise High in Maryland. --Field Level Media
Permission to Chill
It's been a wild week, yeah? Well midsummer is here for a reason. Let it remind you to slow down your days and breathe in the bbq smoke hanging in the neighborhood. Cut grass is a smell unique to only a few months in MN, don't take it for granted. Cop a squat on a patio, take a journey without leaving Northeast, choose one festival instead of trying to hit them all. (But make it the one with smokey meat treats, k?)

This Airline Is Now Leaving Minnesota For Good
It wasn't too long ago this airline added non-stop service to Minnesota, but it's now leaving our fair state for good. Outside of perhaps death and taxes, there is one other constant in the world: change. And in the complicated world of commercial airlines, it seems that change IS pretty constant, including the new announcement that this airline will soon be ending service to the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

What’s Next for the Minnesota Vikings at Cornerback?
As we were heading into the rookie minicamp, cornerback was viewed as a position that needed a breakout candidate or two to be viable in winning for the Minnesota Vikings. The position group was a mixture of mid-round draft picks and veterans on cheap contracts with the hope that a few would outperform their status and contribute more than they expected. With the amount of options the Vikings had at the time of the rookie minicamp, there was a viable chance they could find some options, but those plans have taken a drastic turn. The tragic death of Khyree Jackson and the...
