Showcasing local artists - NWTC seeks to purchase new works through call for art
MARINETTE/OCONTO COUNTY – Local artists have the opportunity to see their work displayed around the campuses of Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) as the college has once again opened its call for art — a process which has allowed the college to acquire nearly 400 pieces in its permanent collection over the years.
Marinette County offices will close for the holiday
MARINETTE — Marinette County government offices will be closed to the public Thursday in observance of the Fourth of July holiday. The closing includes the Marinette County Courthouse Complex which consists of the courthouse, Judicial Center (Court System) and Resource Center, all Marinette County Library locations, Health and Human Services, the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, and the Mar-Oco landfill. Additionally, most Marinette County Government offices/locations will also be closed to the public Friday. If you’re interested in knowing if a specific office will be open to the public on July 5, 2024, please contact that office directly. Regular office hours will resume on Monday, July 8 at 8 a.m. Marinette County apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. People requiring assistance are encouraged to visit the County’s website at www.marinettecountywi.gov for information.

MARINETTE – Marinette County District Attorney DeShea Morrow announced that a Town of Peshtigo man was charged with multiple counts of Possession of Child Pornography after a search warrant was served at his residence on June 18, 2024. According to the Criminal Complaint issued by the Matinette County District Attorney’s Office, on April 30, 2024, the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office that suspected Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) was downloaded to an identified IP address. Further investigation showed that this IP address was associated with a specific residence occupied by Brett Mandli located in the Town of Peshtigo, Marinette County, Wisconsin. The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant for the residence and for electronic devices found in the residence. The search warrant was executed on June 18, 2024, and multiple electronic devices were seized. An analyst with the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation confirmed the presence of image of child pornography on a device belonging to Brett Mandli.

According to a criminal complaint issued by the District Attorney’s Office, the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office informed the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office that suspected child sexual abuse material was downloaded to an identified IP address.

LENA — The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region announces a new U.S. 141 Design Project website is now available to view proposed improvements on U.S. 141 between the U.S. 141/Highway 22 interchange in Oconto County and the U.S. 141/Highway 64 interchange in Marinette County. Menominee/Marinette CASA Looking For More Foster Care Volunteers
CASA of Menominee/Marinette is seeking more volunteers to advocate for the best interest of children in foster care in Marinette and Menominee Counties. “We want every child involved in the child welfare system to have an advocate by their side while they go through such an uncertain time in their lives,” said Faith Sandahl, Executive Director of CASA of Menominee/Marinette. “We are always in need of more volunteer Advocates from the community to serve these children and their families. Currently, we are only able to serve 75% of children from our service area counties due to the limited number of volunteer Advocates available to serve. The need for volunteers is great.”
