    Marine boys kick off indoor track season at UWO Invitational

    OSHKOSH, Wis. — The Marinette boys track and field team kicked off its indoor season at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational on Thursday.

    Jackson Draheim was the Marines’ top performer after placing third in the 800-meter run (2:07.47) and seventh in the pole vault (11-6).

    As a team, Marinette placed 20th out of 26 teams in Division 2 with eight points. Catholic Memorial took the top spot with 59 points, while Campbellsport (49) and Freedom (44) rounded out the top-three.

    Ashtyn Patneaude completed the 60-meter hurdles in 10.89, good for 17th place.

    Two Marines participated in the 1,600-meter run, with Hunter Schneider (5:24.34) finishing 26th overall, while Brady Menor (5:47.16) placed 31st.

    In the 400-meter dash, Nicholas Hruska (1:00.46) edged Evan Reines (1:00.54) as the Marine duo finished 27th and 28th overall, respectively. Aidan Anderson was 38th overall with a time of 1:02.87.

    Reines also competed in the pole vault, finishing 12th overall with a jump of 9-6.

    Elijah Wimbush gave the Marines an 11th-place finish in the 200-meter dash after crossing the finish line in 24.64.

    The shot put event saw Caden Genrich record a toss of 44-7, good for 12th place, while Frankie Marquardt (37-4) finished 36th overall.

    Marinette participated in a pair of relay events, with Reines and Draheim pairing with Hunter Schneider and Aidan Anderson to place 15th in the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 4:03.57.

    Meanwhile, Wimbursh, Hruska, Mason Floriano and Mason Hofherr finished 17th in the 800-meter relay in 1:44.25.
