Area quartet chosen to play in WBCA All-Star Game

MARINETTE — Four area hoopsters have been selected to participate in the 2024 Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Games.

Marinette’s Sam Sommerfeldt will suit up for the White team in the Division 2 All-Star skirmish, while Crivitz’s Tegan Werner has been assigned to the Red team in the Division 4 contest.

Two players from Gillett, Aydin Franti and Ben Matczak, will represent the Tigers in the Division 5 game as members of the White Team.

Gillett coach Russel Young is set to helm that White team alongside Florence’s Bryan Bomberg.

The 2024 WBCA All-Star Games take place June 27 at the Justagame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells.

The Division 5 game begins at 9 a.m., with Division 3 to follow at 12:30 p.m. while Division 2 tips off at 2 p.m.
