Marine girls kick off new season with blowout over GB West

MARINETTE — Sierra Schreiner and Chloe Seymour provided plenty of firepower for the Marinette girls soccer team, as the Marines hammered Green Bay West 12-0 in Monday’s season-opening non-conference clash.

Schreiner and Seymour both tallied hat tricks for the Marines (1-0) but they were far from the only ones to score against the Wildcats (0-1).

Eight different players collected goals for Marinette, with Josie Smerchek (2) joining Seymour and Schreiner as multi-goal scorers on Monday.

Serenity Vanpool, Kylie Kunick, Peyton Gamelin, Isabella Bales and Jada Jones all had one goal in Marinette’s offensive onslaught.

Marinette tallied five assists as a team, two of which came from Seymour, while Schreiner, Smerchek and Jones all picked up one.

Marinette: The Marines kick off North Eastern Conference play with a home game against Waupaca on Thursday. Marinette defeated the Comets 4-1 in Waupaca last season.
