Marine girls get back on track with win over FVL

MARINETTE — The Marinette girls soccer team got back to their winning ways with a 4-1 bounceback victory over Fox Valley Lutheran on Thursday.

Two days after Sheboygan Falls bottled up Marinette’s offense to snap the Marines’ modest three-game winning streak, Josie Smerchek provided the purple and white with a spark by hammering home a pair of goals.

Sierra Schreiner and Chloe Seymour each chipped in a goal for Marinette, while Kylie Kunick provided an assist.

Marinette goalkeeper Serenity VanPool collected seven saves in the net against the Foxes.

Marinette improved to 3-1-1 in the North Eastern Conference standings and 6-3-1 overall with Thursday’s win.
