LUXEMBURG, Wis. — Marinette senior thrower Caden Genrich came away with a North Eastern Conference Championship in the discus at the NEC Championships hosted by Luxemburg-Casco High School on Friday.

Genrich advanced to the finals as the top seed with a preliminary distance of 141-7. He stepped that up to 142-6 on his last toss of the day to win by nearly 12 feet.

The top-three finishers in each event received All-Conference recognition, and fellow thrower Frankie Marquardt joined Genrich with an All-NEC nod in the shot put.

Marquardt was the last man into the finals with a preliminary toss of 38-09.00, but the Marine senior busted out three consecutive tosses over 40’ in the finals and topped out at 40-10.5, which was good for third place.

Hofherr took sixth in the 200m dash at 23.73 seconds, just clipping Fox Valley Lutheran’s Kaleb Williams (23.84) and Clintonville’s Isaiah Smith (23.90) at the line.

Draheim and Hofherr then combined with Kaiden Brown and Braxton Polzin to finish fourth in the 4x400m relay at 3:35.83.

Elijah Wimbush advanced to the finals of the 100m dash and finished ninth at 12:51 seconds.
