Marine girls repeat as NEC champions after smacking down Spartans

    2024-05-16

LUXEMBURG, Wis. — All hail the Queens of the North Eastern Conference.

With Josie Smerchek and Chloe Seymour providing the offensive juice, the Marinette girls soccer team vanquished Luxemburg-Casco 6-1 on Tuesday to secure the Marines’ second straight NEC championship.

Marinette finishes conference play at 5-1-1 overall. Wrightstown (4-1-1) could clinch a share of the conference title with a win over Fox Valley Lutheran on Thursday, but regardless of the outcome of that game, the Marines will still continue their reign over the NEC.

Smerchek and Seymour both fired in two goals apiece against the Spartans, with Sierra Schreiner and Bry Torkko getting in on the action with a goal each.

Schreiner also provided four assists for Marinette.
