    Marinette Post 39 to hold Memorial Day services;

    MARINETTE — The Teddy Budlong-Robert Smith American Legion Post No. 39 of Marinette has organized events for Memorial Day to honor service members from the Civil War to the present who have given their lives in defense of their country.

    Services will begin at 8 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery with a short service, followed by a rifle salute by the Honor Guard Firing Squad Party from Company “A” 20 Year Club, followed by Taps.

    A rifle salute and taps will be part of a ceremony at 8:30 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery on Pierce Avenue. The main ceremony starts 10:45 a.m. at the Grand Army of the Republic Plot at Forest Home Cemetery on Mary Street, with Marinette High School Band under the direction of Hilary Oskey playing the “Star Spangled Banner.”

    A welcome will be given by Adjutant Carrie Felch, followed by an invocation by Chaplain Gary Vieth. The program will include “The Pledge of Allegiance,” a reading of General Logan’s Charge by Sergeant-at-Arms Ellis Langjahr, and “The Gettysburg Address” by First Vice Commander Kevin Horton.

    Speakers will include Marinette Mayor Steve Genisot and Special Guest American Legion Post No. 39 Adjutant Carrie Felch.

    Felch served in the United States Navy from Aug. 6, 2007 to Feb. 28, 2015 and achieved the Rank of E-5 Petty Officer Before leaving service. She attended Bootcamp and MM “A” School at Great Lakes Illinois. Then Transferred to MA “A” School at Lackland Air Force Base. She also attended Camp Atterbury in Indiana. Felch was stationed at Naval Base-Guam from 2008 — 2012 and Naval Hospital Pensacola from 2012 — 2015. Her duties as Security Specialist focused on Anti-Terrorism, Law Enforcement Waterborne and Land Security also Desk Sergeant and Boat Coxswain. Carrie currently works as Logistics Engineer at Lockheed Martin supporting Navy Sailors and the LCS Program.

    Throughout the ceremony, the Marinette High School Band will provide several patriotic musical selections.

    Special recognition will be given honoring POW’s and MIA’s, as well as all service personnel serving at present.

    Closing ceremonies will end with a rifle salute by the 20 Year Club, taps, a benediction by Vieth and the playing a musical selection by Marinette High School Band.

    In the event of rain the 10:45 ceremony will be held in the WJ Jones Auditorium at Marinette High School.
