    Marinette's Eastman shoots his way to ninth at Sectionals

    LUXEMBURG, Wis. — The Marinette High School golf team wrapped up its season with an 11th place finish at Northbrook Golf Course in Tuesday’s WIAA Division 2 Sectional match.

    Brady Eastman led the way with a team-low score of 78 as the Marines shot a combined 384, putting Marinette three strokes ahead of Adams-Friendship, who finished dead last with 387.

    Winneconne captured the Sectional crown with a 309, while Seymour was second with 316. Both teams qualified for the WIAA Division 2 State tournament, which takes place June 3-4 at Blackwolf Run in Kohler.

    Eastman finished three strokes over par on the front-nine and shot a 39 on the back end to end up six strokes over par at 78, good for ninth place overall in the individual standings.

    Henry Bailey (91) finished 46th overall, while Bryce Gamelin (98) and Luke Noel (117) placed 61st and 71st, respectively, to round out Marinette’s scorecard.

    Peshtigo’s Nick Manns represented the Bulldogs with a score of 104, putting him in 66th place.

    Berlin’s Alex Johnson and Xavier’s Jon Bertram finished 1-2 in the individual scores, with Johnson edging Bertram by one stroke, 72-73, to bring home the Sectional title.

    Both golfers snared spots in individual competition for the State tournament alongside Wrightstown’s Matthew Vanden Heuvel, who shot a 75 to finish fifth overall.
