MARSHALL, Texas — Former Marinette High School softball player Sydney Nemetz has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Team.

Nemetz, currently a junior at UW-Oshkosh, was named NFCA Third-Team All-America in an announcement made during the NCAA Division III Softball World Series banquet.

She is the eighth NFCA All-America selection in UWO history and the first since Hannah Ritter (Marengo, Ill.) earned the honor in back-to-back seasons in 2021-and 2022.

Nemetz has led the Titans to the best season in program history with a school record and Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) record 44 wins against just five losses.

The Titans, who were ranked 12th nationally in the final regular season coaches’ poll, rolled through the Regional round with an undefeated 3-0 record before topping defending National Champion Trine University two games to one in the Super Regional round to earn the school’s third trip to the NCAA Division III World Series in Marshall, Texas.

Nemetz owns a sparkling 19-3 record in 24 starts this season. She has been UWO’s work horse with 140.2 innings pitched while turning in 14 complete games including the 13th no-hitter in UWO history against Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) on March 25.

Nemetz has put together a 1.39 ERA, 7.81 strikeouts per seven innings and a WHIP of 0.90.

She ranks in the top-30 nationally with 19 wins (16th), seven shutouts (19th) and 157 strikeouts (27th).

She was named First-Team All-Conference for the third consecutive season and also picked up First-Team All-Region honors this season.

In addition, she was named the Most Outstanding Player at the Oshkosh Regional after going 2-0 in three appearances, allowing four earned runs while striking out ten in 11 innings of work.

In her three-year career, Nemetz holds a record of 46-10 with five saves and an ERA of 1.75. She has struck out 335 batters while walking only 81 in 348 innings pitched.
