    Marine softball quintet named All-NEC performers

    MARINETTE — Five members of the Marinette High School softball team were recognized with All-Conference accolades from the North Eastern Conference on Tuesday.

    Senior pitcher Wynn Erdman, junior catcher Kaya Bodam and sophomore infielder Barrett Cole all received Second Team All-NEC honors, while junior Regan Hermanson (infield) and senior Destiny Walker (outfield) were both Honorable Mention.

    Erdman started 14 games and went 6-8 with a 2.09 earned run average. She allowed 90 hits, 65 runs and issued 26 walks while racking up 87 strikeouts. Opposing batters hit just .226 against her.

    Erdman also tossed the first perfect game in Marinette history against Two Rivers on May 17.

    Bodam, who caught Erdman’s perfect game, hit .317 in 60 plate appearances. She scored 14 runs and collected 19 hits, including seven doubles and two triples, while batting in 12 runs with a slugging percentage of .500.

    Cole hit Marinette’s lone home run of the year, finishing the season with 14 hits and nine RBIs while batting .219 with an on-base percentage of .367.

    Walker led the Marines in hits with 24 base knocks and had the second-highest batting average at .381. She scored 18 runs and tied Cole with a team-high three stolen bases.

    Hermanson had 12 RBIs, the second-most on the team, 13 hits and eight walks in 49 at-bats.
