Westfield Youth Assistance Program receives $15K grant from Arthur Dean Family Foundation
Westfield Youth Assistance Program (WYAP) recently received a $15,000 grant from the Arthur Dean Family Foundation. The Arthur Dean Family Foundation supports organizations that provide opportunities for youth and their families in Marion County, Hamilton County, and Whitley County. Its mission coincides perfectly with WYAP, which, since its establishment in 2009, has worked with youth and their families facing challenging life circumstances. The core services that WYAP connects Westfield youth with are mentoring, tutoring, mental health supports, camps, and enrichment activities. This grant will significantly enhance WYAP’s tutoring program, which in 2023 supported 45 youth in the Westfield Washington School district, and will continue to make a profound difference in the lives of young individuals.

The Indiana Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting for a southside U.S. 31 sidewalk project Tuesday. The proposed project will install Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant sidewalks and curb ramps on both sides of U.S. 31 from County Line Road to Thompson Road in Johnson and Marion Counties. The project will also include minor drainage improvements and a signal improvement at U.S. 31 and Shelby Street.

Disaster Center Update: Centers still Open in Madison, Marion Counties
The Federal Emergency Management Agency continues to maintain Disaster Recovery Centers in two area counties after the Memorial Day Weekend Tornados. According to information posted by both the Office of Boone County Judge Robert Hathaway and the Marion County Office of Emergency Management, the centers remain open at the Marion County Fairgrounds in Summit and at the Clifty Volunteer Fire Department Community Building in Huntsville.
