TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — A former reporter for a weekly Kansas newspaper has agreed to accept $235,000 to settle part of her federal lawsuit over a police raid on the paper that made a small community the focus of a national debate over press freedoms.

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a severe thunderstorm warning until 2:00 a.m. CDT for Marion County and southeastern Saline County in central Kansas. At 12:59 a.m. CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Talmage to near Gypsum to 6 miles south of Lindsborg, moving east at 40 mph. The primary hazard associated with these storms is 70 mph wind gusts, as indicated by radar.
