Kentucky State Police Trooper assaulted after a vehicle pursuit
RAYWICK — On June 7, 2024, at approximately 12:10 a.m., a Kentucky State Police (KSP) Trooper attempted to perform a traffic stop on a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox on Clarkstown Road in Nelson County for a traffic violation. The vehicles did not stop when the Trooper activated his emergency equipment and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit continued onto Sulphur Lick Road in Marion County where it concluded when the road turned into a dead end. Upon the vehicle pursuit ending, the operator exited the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area. After a short foot pursuit, the Trooper was able to catch up to the suspect. The suspect then assaulted the Trooper and fled from the immediate area. The Trooper has been treated and released from the hospital.

Authorities said a trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Clarkstown Road in Nelson County for a traffic violation just after midnight Friday morning.

LOUISVILLE, Ky, (WAVE) – The man who led a Kentucky State Police trooper on a pursuit from Nelson County into Marion County has been arrested. Dustin M. Thompson, 31, of New Hope, is charged with strangulation, assault of a police officer, disarming a peace officer and theft by unlawful taking of a firearm.
