Aces of Trades: Evan McGeorge's 'untraditional' career path is blazing a trail

It’s a successful, growing business − and to him, a family thing.

“As a child I was always surrounded by friends and my siblings,” said Evan McGeorge. “I grew up very involved in sports. I always wanted to play sports or be involved in sports somehow. I originally started college with a major in sports medicine and didn’t switch majors until after a year and a half in. Still, I could have never told you I would be doing what I am today.”

McGeorge oversees operations and marketing for Presidential Inflatables & More, a business started and owned by his parents, Phillip and Amy McGeorge.

“My role is to work out logistics with our schedule and the day-to-day operations,” he said. “My job is to help try to grow our brand.”

He helps people find 'precious moments'

“I do what I do,” he added, “because it has allowed me a career path that’s very untraditional and simultaneously allows me to bring joy to people. We basically never have bad days or upset people. This is a career that’s allowed me to help people spend time and precious moments with family and friends and not have to worry about the planning portion. It’s been a true blessing to have the opportunity to become one of Marion and central Ohio’s entertainment companies.”

McGeorge grew up in Marion, graduated from Marion Harding High School in 2016, then earned a degree in business management and finance from Ohio State Marion and Columbus State Community College.

“I worked for a bank out of college,” he said. “I worked there full time while also helping grow our family’s brand. We eventually became so busy I couldn’t do both and took on the family business full time.”

“Presidential Inflatables was all started by accident,” McGeorge noted. “My family purchased our first bounce house for my youngest brother for his birthday just so we had our own for the future. We then had family friends ask us to rent that unit, so another was purchased. Less than two years later we’re 25-plus units along with the purchase of the once ‘Houghton sulky’ building and much more than just inflatables.”

    'Nothing worthwhile comes without effort'

    Allyson McGeorge is Evan’s sister.

“Inspired by our father's teachings, Evan has embraced a philosophy that emphasizes clear intention, hard work and the belief that nothing worthwhile comes without effort,” said Allyson. "His dedication and creativity shine through in every aspect of growing a business. I’m biased, but Evan's commitment to delivering a unique and fulfilling guest experience is unparalleled. His passion resonates with everyone he interacts with, leaving a lasting impression on both customers and colleagues alike.”

“I’m very happy where life has taken me,” McGeorge said. “In my 26 years, I’ve had the opportunity to do some things that most older adults never get the chance to do. I also have a chance to grow a lasting brand that my family can continue to run and be a part of for decades to come.”
