Marion will host state and provincial legislators from across the region this weekend as part of The Council of State Governments’ Midwestern Legislative Conference Annual Meeting taking place July 21-24 in Columbus.

On Saturday a bus tour of conference attendees will travel to downtown Marion where 57 new businesses and over 350 full and part-time jobs have been created since 2018 and 109 downtown buildings have been added to the National Register of Historic Places. The Marion visit will include a tour of a downtown hotel converted to 67 apartments and a stop at the Warren G. Harding Presidential Museum and Library.

Now in its 78th year, the MLC Annual Meeting is the only event of its kind designed by and for Midwestern state and provincial legislators. Over the course of four days, legislators will have the opportunity to collaborate with their peers while also learning from one another, acclaimed speakers and leading experts on things like workforce innovation. Ohio Sen. Bill Reineke is the chair of the CSG Midwestern Legislative Conference.

The MLC meeting also provides a showcase for Midwest cities such as Columbus. Site visits and special events for attendees’ guests of all ages will be held at some of the Columbus area’s top venues and attractions.
