Investigation underway after 4-year-old drowns in SWMO

MARIONVILLE, Mo. (KOAM) - Authorities are investigating the drowning of a 4-year-old in Lawrence County, Missouri.

According to the Aurora and Marionville Police Department, officers responded to a home in Marionville where a 4-year-old female was reportedly found unconscious in the home's swimming pool.

Police, Marionville Fire and Mercy Ambulance all responded. The Police Department stated they "desperately tried to revive her."

EMS took her to Mercy Hospital in Aurora where emergency workers pronounced her dead.

The Police Department states, as per normal protocol, they are thoroughly investigating the incident. At the time of this release, police stated there was no indication of any wrongdoing and this appears to be a tragic accident.
