Homelessness in California is severe: Is $1 billion via Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention plan helpful?

    2023-04-01

What are your opinions about it?

Homeless people are everywhere in the United States. In some cities and states, their number is of course more than in others but they do exist all around and face a significant number of problems.

Most of their problems, as we know, are related to food, shelter, clothing, money, and healthcare facilities. When someone does not have enough money, it is obvious that they won't be able to buy anything and cannot even afford homes.

    Homeless in California is severe

According to an article published by the Public Policy Institute of California, nearly 30 percent of homeless people in the country can be found in California. This includes a vast majority of unsheltered individuals. (Source)

It is worth mentioning that people become homeless because of a number of reasons, such as joblessness, poverty, and lack of affordable housing.

Is it enough to spend $1 billion?

The governor seems to be aware of the problem, which is why they have announced $1 billion via Homeless Housing, Assistance, and Prevention plan. The previous year, funds to local government were paused because they said they would be able to address the issue by only 2 percent. But now the target is a 15 percent reduction, and this is likely to be achieved by 2025.

I am not sure if it will be possible for the governor or not because the rate of unemployment is still high. Plus, the costs of items are going up.

Do you think $1 billion via Homeless Housing, Assistance, and Prevention plan can bring positive changes to the state's economy?
