INDIANAPOLIS — After finishing second in the Big Ten in tackles last season, the senior safety is approaching fall camp with confidence in Wisconsin’s defense. Hunter Wohler is a tackling machine, who eats ball carriers for breakfast. His 120 stops last year were the most by a Badger since 2012. Not to mention he finished 10th nationally in solo tackles per game. Wohler’s natural instincts often puts him in position to be around the ball making plays, and when he strikes he rarely misses. Wisconsin women’s basketball adds Serbian wing
Wisconsin’s women’s basketball program announced the addition of Serbian wing Jovana Spasovski to its 2024-25 roster on Friday. Spasovski will become the second international player on the Badgers’ roster this fall, joining Spanish guard Alba Martìn Mesa. Both will suit up in Madison this winter as first-time Badgers. A native of Belgrade, Serbia, Spasovski enters the American basketball scene with a boatload of experience. As a member of basketball club Akson Ilirija, Spasovski registered 9.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals per appearance across 23 games during the 2023-24 season. Spasovski also helped guide the Serbian National Team to a fourth place finish at the at the 2023 FIBA U20 Women’s European Championship in Lithuania. Car-Semi Accident Injures Platteville Woman
A Platteville woman was injured in a car-semi truck accident. The Grant County Sheriff says the accident happened Thursday afternoon shortly after noon on Highway 151 at the intersection with Hill Climb Road near Dickeyville. Authorities say a vehicle driven by 77-year old Elaine Shanley was stopped at the intersection and then pulled out to cross the southbound lanes and was hit by the oncoming semi driven by 59-year old Henry Chamberlain of Fort Atkinson.

Wisconsin Badgers football student season tickets have sold out for the 31st consecutive year, per an announcement from Wisconsin Athletics. Of Camp Randall Stadium’s 80,321-seat capacity, 14,000 of those seats are allocated for students underneath the arena’s Jumbotron. Where Wisconsin football lands in NCAA graduation rates for 2022-23 year
Wisconsin football boasted an 89% graduation for the 2022-23 academic year, or for the 2016 student cohort. The Badgers are tied for No. 10 among the 66-team list. As of this season, 68 schools will make up the Power Four this fall. In addition to Wisconsin, Michigan, Nebraska, SMU, UCF and West Virginia also held an 89% college football graduation rate last year. Clemson, Boston College, Cincinnati, Northwestern and Wake Forest make up the top five — with each school at a 97% graduation rate or higher. Alliant Energy Crews Return Home After Helping In Illinois
(Wisconsin) Dozens of Alliant Energy workers returned home safe this past weekend after helping another utility recover from the major storms in Illinois. ComEd, an energy company serving northern Illinois, recently requested additional resources to help restore power after at least 25 confirmed tornadoes hit Chicago and surrounding areas last week. At one point, ComEd had approximately 430,000 customers without power. Seventy-one Alliant Energy employees from across Wisconsin and Iowa answered the call for mutual assistance and went to help-including crews from Ripon, Beloit, Janesville, Mauston, Fond du Lac, Portage, Verona, and Baraboo. Mutual assistance refers to voluntary partnerships with other energy providers in the region. During major restoration events, these partnerships enable energy companies to bring in additional workers and equipment as needed to safely restore power for all affected customers.
