Old Pfizer Headquarters To Be NYC’s Largest Office-To-Residential Conversion To Date
The former Pfizer headquarters located on 42nd Street off of 2nd Avenue will be converted into 1,500 apartments in what’s to be NYC’s largest office-to-residential conversion in history. The old headquarters became vacant following Pfizer’s move to a new Hudson Yards office in 2023. Manhattan Borough President, Mark Levine, announced the conversion project to X earlier in June adding that the city “[needs] many, many more of these. (And have to make sure they include affordable units.)” Transforming Pfizer’s former headquarters into residential apartments will join the growing list of office-to-residential conversions occurring in the city, primarily in the Financial District. By creating 1,500 residential apartments, the Pfizer project will surpass the 1,300 apartments expected from the old Daily News and JPMorgan Chase building conversion. According to Pix11, crews have already begun the process of clearing out the 42nd St former headquarters and will begin construction with a “gut renovation” this summer.

And not only is Xanadu Roller Arts NYC’s only year-round indoor roller rink, it’s also a full entertainment hub that doubles as a 1,000-capacity nightclub and music venue. Kataria stated:
