Wellington), District 5 (incumbent Republican Shaun Shumaker and Democrat challenger Donna Anderson), District 7 (incumbent Democrat Martin L. Cousineau and Republican challenger Lutullus Penton), and District 1, where incumbent Democrat Delrico J. Loyd has no opponent in the primary or general election.
Swan Valley baseball coach let go after TVC, district championships
Craig Leddy, who coached Swan Valley baseball during one of its strongest stretches in Vikings’ history, learned Thursday that he is out of a job. The Swan Valley Board of Education voted not to rehire Leddy after the Swan Valley coach led the Vikings to Tri-Valley Conference and district titles in 2024.

Port Huron to Mackinac Race comes to an end
Sailboats are crossing the finish line up at Mackinac Island as the 100th Bayview Mackinac Race begins to wind down. The race got off to a slow start, being delayed nearly two hours Saturday due to lack of wind on lower Lake Huron. Wind conditions changed later in the day, giving a boost to some of the larger and faster boats in the race. The first to cross the finish line was Wizard in Class A shortly after 1pm Sunday. The leader for much of the race was Maverick, who also won the Chicago to Mackinac Race, but had to withdraw due to a mast failure. As of Monday morning, much of the fleet was in a line between Mackinac Island and Rogers City. The remaining boats are expected to finish Monday afternoon.

EV industry praises federal investments in Michigan
Michigan's electric vehicle industry is praising the Biden administration for its latest investments in EV manufacturing and innovation. About $650 million will go toward retooling auto plants in Lansing and Marysville to produce newer EV models.
