Early voting ongoing for November election
Early voting for the Nov. 8 election began on Monday. Early voting is only being offered at the Falls County Courthouse Annex Building at 1910 Industrial Park Road in Marlin. It will continue this week and next week. Peggy Clark received her Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG) Society International 50-year pin at the Beta Nu Chapter meeting held in Marlin, TX, on September 10, 2022. Peggy, who first taught five years at West ISD, came to Rosebud and Mrs. Mary Lee Stubbs, an English teacher in Rosebud, invited her to join DKG Society International. Peggy Clark was initiated in 1969 and has been a member for over 50 years in the Beta Nu Chapter, based in Marlin. Peggy Clark taught in Rosebud until her retirement in June 1913, after 50 years. Bulldogs fall to Crawford, ready for Riesel
The Marlin Bulldogs football team went on the road to face the Crawford Pirates on Oct. 7. They were defeated by Crawford 33-20. The scoring started in the first quarter when Crawford scored on a 15-yard touchdown run for a 7-0 lead. The next score came in the second quarter as Marlin scored on an 18-yard touchdown pass from Desmond Woodson to Zha’Mauryon Lofton to make the score 7-6 after a missed extra point. Lady Bulldogs come up short against Rosebud-Lott
The Marlin Lady Bulldogs volleyball team came up short against the Rosebud-Lott Lady Cougars, as they were swept 3-0 on Friday night. The first two points of the first set went to Rosebud-Lott. The Lady Cougars jumped up to a 6-1 lead, which was soon followed by a Rosebud-Lott ace to give Marlin an 8-1 deficit. A change is on the horizon
The Falls County Booker T. Washington Alumni & Ex-Student Association under the direction of the newly elected National President, Kathryn Lynn, hosted its first retreat the weekend of Sept. 23-24, 2022 in Waco. The goals of the retreat included designing fundraising opportunities, establishing clear scholarship requirements for Marlin High School graduating seniors, prioritizing building renovations and repairs, and outlining membership recruitment and retention strategies necessary to sustain the association.
