Falls County Sheriff recovers stolen vehicle
Reported as stolen from Limestone County, Falls County Sheriff Joe Lopez discovered a 2023 Jeep Mojave vehicle off CR 225 near Bald Hill. Due to fresh evidence of grass on the wheels, the Jeep had been recently driven. The Jeep was found in an isolated area off the county road. As stated by Sheriff Lopez, “It’s a great possibility that someone is familiar with the vicinity.” In another case, a checkbook was found on CR 224 from a reported stolen vehicle from Limestone County.
Lady Bulldogs season ends in Regional Semi-Finals
The Marlin Lady Bulldogs basketball team had their playoff push come to an end over the weekend. They traveled to Athens High School for the Regional Semi-Finals to take on the Douglass Lady Indians. Marlin was defeated by Douglass, losing 45-36. The first quarter was very even as neither team could pull away early. The Falls County Commissioners Court met at the County Courthouse, Marlin, Texas, on Monday, February 12, 2024, County Judge Jay Elliott presiding. The Marlin Lady Bulldogs basketball team continues their playoff push and will advance to the Regional Semi-Finals after defeating the LaPoyner Lady Flyers on Monday night in Corsicana. Realignment shrinks Bulldogs football district
Starting next year for the 2024-2025 season, the Marlin Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs sports team will be having a new set of district opponents. As of now, the UIL has posted the new district reclassification and realignment for football, basketball, and volleyball. Marlin will not switch conferences and will remain in 2A.
