The Marlin ISD School Board of Managers (BOM) met Monday, Feb. 5, at the Marlin Middle School Library with President Billy Johnson presiding. Board Managers present were Misty Ehlers, Byrleen Terry, Rosalyn Dimerson, Marsha Ridlehuber, and Dr. Darryl Henson, Superintendent of Schools.
As a part of the transition of district governance from the appointed Board of Managers to the elected Board of Trustees, Rosalyn Dimerson and Marsha Ridlehuber reassumed their governance authority becoming part of the Board of Managers.
Executive Director of Human Resources, Jesse Bustamante, reviewed Bond 2022 updates. He noted the stadium electrical upgrades project were reposted and bids are due Feb. 13. The MHS contract was finalized with Target Solutions. Legion Field is still closed and under construction.
Norman Jones, Director of Human Resources, presented the 2024-2025 school calendar process. The superintendent will appoint a calendar committee to draft a minimum of two school year calendars for the community to vote and/or provide feedback. The proposed 2024-25 calendar will come before the Board during a February Board meeting. Offering competitive salaries, stipends and benefits for its employees, Jones shared the 2024-25 Salary Schedule updates. Several job titles were added such as a Graduation Specialist.
As reported by Jesse Bustamante, Competitive Sealed Proposal (CSP) was released November 2023 requesting proposals for the stadium site work. A $594, 337 contract with Sanchez Driveways was finalized for site work and landscaping services. The district will finalized the contract with MRB Group for architectural & engineering services, third-party design group Veregy Design Build. Project includes a new gymnasium with an anticipated $12,000,000 budget.
After consent items and minutes from the previous meeting were approved, it was moved/seconded that the meeting adjourn.
