Montgomery County, MD Continues to Expand Recycling with Plastic Film Recycling
The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is now offering plastic film recycling services at the Shady Grove Transfer Station and Recycling Center in Derwood. Plastic film are flexible plastic bags and wraps. They are recycled differently than bottles and containers. For example, grocery bags and bread bags do not go in most curbside recycling bins. Instead, plastic bags and wraps should be taken to the Shady Grove Transfer Station and Recycling Center in Derwood or other plastic film drop-off locations.

SEARCY — More than 30 members of Harding’s NCAA II National Championship football team attended the White House College Champions Day on July 22, in Washington, D.C. The event honored all of the NCAA’s 90 national champions from the 2023-24 school year and was held on the South Lawn. Teams participated in a self-guided tour of the White House. One representative from each championship team joined the speakers on stage.

On July 20, members of the department’s Robbery Suppression Unit arrested Charles Mitchell-Baynes, 30, of Northwest. Police said they stopped him after an alleged traffic violation, at which point they determined that Mitchell-Baynes allegedly had over $3,800 worth of Lululemon merchandise in his car, along with illegal substances.
