NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — An armed man who barricaded himself inside a Marlton home for hours Monday has been arrested and charged.

Evesham Township Police say it was around 2:30 a.m. when they responded to a 911 call along Brookfield Avenue. As officers arrived at the scene, they received additional information that the call was about a possible domestic violence incident involving a person with a gun.

As officers surrounded the home they say a person inside, later identified as 56-year-old John G. Fox, began breaking windows and shooting.

Police say they were able to remove a woman from inside the house and brought her to safety.

They say no one was injured but neighbors were told to stay in their homes while police worked to resolve the situation.

Police say after they helped the woman, gunfire continued from inside the house and Fox barricaded himself in.

Fox surrendered after nearly six hours and was taken into custody.

Police say a search warrant was issued and executed for the house. Inside, they found several firearms.

Further investigation found that neighboring houses were struck by the gunshots. Police say if your house was hit, contact Evesham Police Department at 856-983-1116.

Fox is charged with possession of weapon for unlawful purpose, aggravated assault and criminal mischief.

He’s currently at Burlington County Jail pending a detention hearing.
