MARMET, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man has been arrested after stealing a vehicle from a construction site on the West Virginia Turnpike.

According to a criminal complaint, on Wednesday, June 19, along the West Virginia Turnpike near Marmet, law enforcement responded to reports of a stolen vehicle.

At approximately 10 AM, authorities were alerted by Turnpike Control about a male suspect seen entering a vehicle around the 90-mile marker southbound.

The vehicle belonged to a construction worker stationed in the area.

Upon arrival at the scene, police spotted a white Ford parked on the southbound side of the road, a short distance from where the workers were located.

Recalling a recent BOLO (Be On the LookOut) for the vehicle, the responding officer confirmed through Turnpike Control that it was indeed the reported stolen 2017 Ford F150 from the Charleston area, listed in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).

Further investigation revealed that the suspect, identified as 42-year-old William D. Morris, had been seen by workers near the stolen truck before he allegedly attempted to enter their vehicles.

Prompt response by law enforcement led to Morris being detained shortly after the incident in Marmet.

Police recovered keys from Morris and transported him to the truck where police used the keys to successfully start the vehicle.

Morris was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and breaking and entering an automobile.

He is currently at South Central Regional Jail.
