Stetson Bennett recalls the worst thing Kirby Smart ever said to him
Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Stetson Bennett is in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams, but that did not stop him from reminiscing on memories from his time in Athens. Bennett recalled the worst thing that Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart said to him on the “Unreserved with TJ Callaway” podcast. Smart is known for loudly getting after his players in practice with both his voice and a microphone. “I was a freshman and running some drill. It was like pre-stretch or something. It was a walk-through,” said Bennett. “I had to to think. I tried to clap and I like mishit my hands, so it was like the most feeble little (clap).” “Kirby (Smart) just slowly turns around and says, ‘I’ll cut your f—ing head off’,” continued Bennett. “I don’t know if it was that. But I was like dude, I could not stop laughing, come on man.” “Nobody is better at rising to the occasion with his voice than Kirby,” said Bennett. “He’s unbelievable.” Bennett and Smart won back-to-back national championships together during the 2021 and 2022 college football seasons.
