Papa Roux serves Bayou, Creole-inspired cuisine in Muskegon
MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI — A new eatery is heating up the Lake Michigan shoreline, offering foodies a classic spin on Creole cuisine straight from the Bayou. Owner Rey Peña opened Papa Roux in late May inside one of the 17 Western Market Chalets in downtown Muskegon, 307 West Western Ave., Unit F to bring Creole food and Hawaiian ice to the people of West Michigan.

The Little Red Schoolhouse sits at 7430 River St. Built in 1859, it served as a one room schoolhouse all the way until 1964! Later it was turned into an ice cream shop, then a flower shop after that.
Saginaw man in serious condition after being pulled from Lake Michigan
MUSKEGON, MI - A Saginaw man and teen were hospitalized after being rescued from Lake Michigan on Friday, July 5. The Muskegon Department of Public Safety responded to the water emergency around 4:30 p.m. at Pere Marquette Beach after two people saw the man, 30, and the girl, 13, struggling in the water, a news release said.
