MARQUETTE, Mich. (WJMN) — Police in the City of Marquette say they will have extra patrols during this week’s holiday to up their enforcement of rules at area beaches.

As a reminder, Marquette police shared on social media a few beach ordinances they will specifically be looking for violators of. They can be boiled down to “No alcohol, no littering, and no dogs,” but here are the full ordinances as posted by the Marquette City Police:

    (1) Section 4-2 Consumption of alcohol on beaches is prohibited (except by permit).

    (2) Section 22-24 People littering on beaches will be cited. Also, No Smoking is allowed on the beaches.

    (3) Section 8-12 Animals are prohibited on all public bathing beaches.

Police also advised drivers only use designated signed parking areas at Presque Isle Park; all others will be ticketed.

“Please enjoy the beaches and help us continue to keep Marquette beaches a fun, clean and safe place for all people to enjoy,” said a spokesperson for Marquette City Police.
