‘Read My Lips Bookshop’ bringing romance-only literature to the U.P.

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WJMN) — Fans of romance novels in the Upper Peninsula will now have an entire bookshop dedicated to the genre in Marquette.

Read My Lips Bookshop held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday ahead of its opening at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 20.

The owner says the store will be the first of its kind in the state.

Founder Nicole Odom says that recent strong sales of romance novels and similar stores opening around the country inspired her to open her own romance bookstore.

A lifelong reader and romance fan herself, she said she wants to provide “an inclusive space for everybody to feel comfortable and enjoy their romance novels.”

To make the store welcoming, she plans to also have space for readers to work, study, and socialize alongside her retail shelves.

Odom hopes to host book clubs, community events, and midnight release parties to create a community of like-minded readers in Marquette. More information can be found online and on their Instagram and Facebook .
