Ochsner opens specialized senior-only clinic in Marrero

MARRERO, La. ( WGNO ) — A new clinic, aptly named “Ochsner 65 Plus–Marrero” has opened on Barataria Boulevard in Marrero and will specialize in providing care to seniors in its community.
According to a release from Ochsner Health, the new clinic is designed specifically with older patients in mind and specializes in common senior conditions such as arthritis, diabetes and heart failure. The clinic will also offer personalized healthcare, social support and wellness resources.
“Ochsner Health takes great pride in offering a comprehensive healthcare solution tailored specifically for the older adults within our community,” said Mary Deynoodt, CEO of Ochsner Health West Bank. “Ochsner is dedicated to accommodating the unique needs of our community members with innovative healthcare throughout all life stages.”
Patients will reportedly have access to a team of individuals who specialize in different disciplines and can offer care plans that are customized to the individual. The team includes a primary care doctor who commonly holds extended appointments lasting up to an hour, a licensed social worker trained in behavioral therapy, a clinical pharmacist, and a dietitian, a health coach, a fitness instructor and others.
In addition to the professionally diverse team, Ochsner claims that the new clinic also provides space and services for patient needs such as labs, fitness centers, immunizations, infusions and physical therapy.
The release also stated that, beyond the purely medical services, Ochsner 65 Plus–Marrero will include social and wellness opportunities like group fitness classes, cooking demonstrations, health coaching and card games.
This clinic joins five others of its kind throughout Louisiana, Florida and South Carolina.
Ochsner Health reported that the new clinic accepts traditional Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans offered by Ochsner Health Plan, Humana, Peoples Health and Blue Cross. Appointment scheduling is available online, and prospective patients can take guided tours of the facility.
