Two people are dead after a pair of major motor vehicle accidents occurred within minutes of one another on Saturday morning on the Seward and Kenai Spur Highways. At 11:55 a.m., Alaska State Troopers in Soldotna responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Treasure Chest and the Kenai Spur Highway.

Pilot project puts wildfire sensors on Anchorage Hillside
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The Anchorage Fire Department has a new tool for detecting wildfires on the Anchorage Hillside that can provide an early alert to first responders. The system called FIRE-SPY consists of a small box that contains a sensor which is mounted on a utility pole. There are currently 25 monitors in place on the Hillside with plans to install five more by the end of July.
