Two favored solutions emerge after Highway 30 safety meeting
STATE CENTER — Five months have passed since representatives of the Iowa Department of Transportation, State Center officials along with citizens of the community, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office personnel, and others gathered to discuss the high number of accidents occurring at the intersection of Highway 30 and Durham Avenue south of State Center. Since that meeting, another three accidents have occurred at this busy thoroughfare crossing.

Two kayakers rescued at Three Bridges Park
On Sunday afternoon, the Marshalltown Fire Department was requested to rescue missing kayakers in the area of Three Bridges Park in Marshall County near Le Grand. The fire department responded with the rescue boat and Polaris Ranger to the boat launch area in Three Bridges. Upon arrival, it was determined there were two patients in need of rescue. Firefighters in the Ranger found and removed one patient from a wooded area North of the river, and firefighters deployed the boat to rescue the second patient from the shore of the river. Both patients were delivered to Unity Point EMS for evaluation, but only one was transported by ambulance from the scene.

Binford House to mark 150th anniversary at celebration Sunday
