With most of the former Marshall Habilitation Center campus now in its possession, Marshall Schools turns its attention to promoting its plans for the campus.

Superintendent Caleb Petet tells KMMO News that the district’s future plans will include baseball diamonds and other facilities, including those still standing from its use with the state hospital.

Petet says the district’s website will soon have a progress tracker to publicize updates on construction of the new intermediate school, which remains on schedule to open in August 2025.

Marshall Schools hosted a brief ceremony Friday morning with Marshall Mayor Vince Lutterbie to commemorate the land transfer. The city is retaining the northwest corner of the former state hospital campus for eventual conversion to a park and conservation area.
