With spring turkey season, youth Learn to Hunt set

Tom's Guns in Marshall is gearing up for the Spring Turkey Learn to Hunt and Youth Event.

The Annual Spring Turkey Youth Hunt is designed to give novice hunters the opportunity hunt wild turkey and gain valuable experience at a time when other hunters are not authorized to hunt.

It is open to youths 12-15 who have a valid spring turkey license, stamp and Zone 2 permit. All youth hunters must have successfully completed a Hunter Education course.

Youth hunters will be accompanied by a mentor age 18 or older.

A Learn to Hunt mandatory shoot and meeting is set for Wednesday, April 10, with shooting at the Waterloo Gun Club, N929 Co. Rd T in Waterloo from 3-5:30 p.m. The classroom time will follow from 6-7:30 p.m. at Tom's Guns, 215 W. Main St. in Marshall.
