    Sawdust explosion starts Wednesday morning fire at Marshfield business

    MARSHFIELD − No one was injured Wednesday morning when a sawdust explosion started a fire in a silo at Masonite Architectural.

    At 10:53 a.m. a caller reported a fire at Masonite Architectural, 1401 E. Fourth St. Marshfield Fire and Rescue firefighters arrived on the scene to find smoke coming from the top of a silo and a dust collector system, according to a Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department report. Masonite staff said a sawdust explosion was followed by smoke and flames.

    Firefighters used their aerial truck to gain access to both the silo and the dust collector, according to the report. Firefighters put out several hot spots that were caused by the explosion. The Hewitt Fire Department and Central Rapid Intervention Team helped at the scene.

    The explosion and fire damaged parts of the dust collector as well as a conveyor system, according to the report.

    There were no injuries reported.
