BrucePac's recent recall of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products has expanded to nearly 12 million pounds of products due to listeria contamination.

On October 15, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) updated its initial October 9 recall to include additional products and production dates. The recall release was also updated to reflect that recalled products were distributed to schools. A school distribution list is not available at this time, per FSIS.

The expanded list of recalled items includes over 300 products like prepared salads, burritos, and other food sold at Costco, Amazon, Trader Joe's, Target, Walmart, Kroger, and other stores. The ready-to-eat meat and poultry products were produced between May 31, 2024 and October 8, 2024 and have the establishment numbers "51205" or "P-51205" on the product.

FSIS published the full list of products on its website, as well as instructions on how to search for specific items. It's encouraged to check the website frequently as additional products may be added to the list.

Affected products may still be available for purchase in stores and homes. Consumers are urged to throw away the products immediately and not sell or serve them. The recalled products can also be returned to the place of purchase for a refund.

There have been no confirmed reports of illness linked to the recall to date. However, if you believe you are experiencing an adverse reaction from listeria contamination, contact your healthcare provider immediately. Listeria infection symptoms include fever, muscle aches, nausea, diarrhea, headache, stiff neck, and confusion. These symptoms can appear as early as a few hours or even two days after consumption.

For questions related to the call, contact Jeff Golangco, vice president of business development at BrucePac, at 503-874-3000. Consumers may also call the toll-free USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-674-6854.
