Quick action from bank employees who provided a detailed description of the suspect and his direction of travel enabled Berkeley Dispatch to promptly coordinate a response.

Criminal Investigation Division (CID) personnel, already in the vicinity for other investigations, swiftly began searching for the suspect on alternate routes.

Deputy Weidman, operating an unmarked BCSD vehicle, located the suspect near Blairton Road and began trailing him, continuously updating locations as backup units converged on the area.

The suspect, identified as Daniel Keith Sandlin, 43 of Martinsburg, was apprehended without incident on Eagle School Road.

Investigators secured video footage from the bank which confirmed the suspect’s involvement.

Sandlin was found with the stolen money in his possession and was wearing the same clothes as during the robbery.

Notably, no weapon was displayed during the crime, and there were no injuries reported.

Sandlin has been charged with bank robbery and is currently held at the Eastern Regional Jail on a $50,000 bond.

Sheriff Rob Blair praised the rapid response and effective coordination between the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department and Berkeley Dispatch.

“The quick response of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department along with the quick relay of information by Berkeley Dispatch were essential elements in apprehending this bank robbery suspect Our personnel in Berkeley County are top notch not only within our agency but throughout multiple agencies,” Blair said.
