If you're a fan of authentic Asian cuisine, Wong Gee Asian Restaurant is a must-visit spot located just opposite the Wheaton Costco. My recent visit with friends was a delightful culinary journey. We indulged in a variety of dishes, starting with the scallion oil empress chicken, which was both large in portion and rich in flavor. The grouper fish stood out with its tender texture and garlicky zest, and the rare walnut shrimp was a unique treat not commonly found elsewhere.
The restaurant itself has a simple, no-frills ambiance, typically frequented by an older crowd. While the service could use a bit of pep, the food quality definitely makes up for it. From the crispy and juicy Cantonese style fried whole chicken to the dim sum delights like fried taro dumpling and shrimp rice rolls, every dish was a hit. The soy sauce chicken from the lunch menu was particularly memorable, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection.
