How can St. Louis be more successful? Regional leaders want your input
Civic leaders are looking for input on how the St. Louis region can be more successful. The “Where We Stand” report is put together by the East-West Gateway Council of Governments about every five years. Its findings on how the region stacks up when it comes to factors like transportation, health access, education and civic engagement are used to help determine where local governments should focus their efforts.
St. Louis, Missouri: Patchy Fog and Clear Skies Today
St. Louis, MO – Early morning travelers across central and northeast Missouri and west-central Illinois should brace for patchy fog, which could reduce visibility to less than half a mile. This warning from the US National Weather Service in St. Louis advises motorists to be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions. Despite the foggy start, clear skies are expected throughout the day, with temperatures reaching a high of 84°F.
Commodity prices hex Rural Mainstreet Index
(Omaha) -- One of KMAland's leading indicators still shows the region's economy stuck in the mud. Creighton University's Rural Mainstreet Index report sank below growth neutral for the 11th straight month. The survey of bank CEOs in a 10-state region--including Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri--show July's overall reading at 41.3--down from 41.7 in June, and lowest reading since November, 2023. Speaking on KMA's "Morning Line" program Monday morning, Creighton University Economist Dr. Ernie Goss says weak agricultural commodity prices are the main culprit behind the continued economic doldrums.
