Even Nursing Home Watch Parties Found Biden to Be ‘Grim’

Joe Biden ’s painfully poor debate performance Thursday didn’t even resonate with those at the same point of life as him, with POLITICO reporting from a Maryland nursing home that viewers found the spectacle to be “grim.” Among those utterly unimpressed was Barbara Goldberg, who, at 81, is the same age as Biden. POLITICO reported that she repeatedly put her head in her hands as Biden struggled to piece together coherent sentences, with his quip that we “finally beat Medicare” appearing to particularly puzzle her. Meg Maguire, also 81, said she wasn’t impressed with either candidate. She said Donald Trump was spewing “garbage,” but, “in terms of just physical relationship to the camera, Trump is doing better.” She added: “I do think Biden’s age is showing at this debate, and it pains me.” Winning over elderly voters—who vote at a higher percentage than any other group—is expected to be critical to Biden in November. Trump, who’s 78 himself, appeared much more comfortable than his opponent on stage Thursday, but used his time at the podium to spew lies and hyperbole that went unchecked by debate moderators.
