Maryland storm possibilities continue through evening 03:59

BALTIMORE-- A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 11 PM. Damaging wind gusts, hail, and an isolated tornado are possible.

Our WJZ ALERT DAY continues for the threat of severe thunderstorms now through 11 PM.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Anne Arundel, Howard, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne's, Caroline, and Talbot counties along with Baltimore City until 11 PM. Damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph, hail, intense lightning, and an isolated tornado are possible. The highest risk for an isolated tornado would be along and near Chesapeake Bay.

Temperatures Sunday afternoon climbed into the lower to middle 90s. Combine hot temperatures with tropical humidity levels, and the feels like temperature has been running between 100 and 106 F. Dangerous heat and humidity will be an issue until storms cool us off.

Scattered to numerous strong to severe storms will become more common from the late afternoon hours into the early evening. By mid-evening, the worst of the severe weather should be shifting to the eastern shore. Specifically southern Maryland is the concern after 9 PM. Storms will form in clusters, so there is the possibility of seeing a few storms in one area, while other spots get missed. The greatest risk for widespread severe storms is along and east of I-95.

Storms exit the area late this evening with a clearing sky and northerly breeze developing. Low temperatures will fall into the lower 60s.

Monday looks fantastic! Sunshine, a gusty northerly breeze, and low humidity. Highs will top out in the lower 80s. More beautiful weather is on the way Tuesday with highs in the middle 80s. Wednesday turns a bit hotter with highs near 90.

Tropical heat and humidity return for Thursday, the 4th of July, and will make for a tough day to be outside. Please stay hydrated and take breaks from the heat. Strong to severe storms are possible in the afternoon and evening hours, which may put a damper on some fireworks displays. Stay tuned.

More heat, humidity, and storms continue Friday into Saturday. None of the days look like washouts.
