A 1920s Craftsman-style house in Maryville is now home to one of Maryville’s newest small businesses.

Southern Belle Aesthetics held its ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday morning at 806 Broyles Ave., Maryville. Tammi Ford with Blount Partnership welcomed them to the neighborhood.

Owner Katie Buckner is a Blount County native, graduating from William Blount High School. She said her business officially opened last August in a smaller space just down the road. This new home is more spacious, tripling the amount of treatment rooms.

“I am a nurse practitioner,” Buckner told the crowd gathered in the hallway and on the porch. “I’ve been in nursing for 20 years. My dream has always been to own an aesthetics business. So today my dream has come true.”

Buckner was joined by four staff members — Klaudia Stinson, Brianna Bushong, Jessica Dean and Sonya Kagley. After cutting the ribbon, guests enjoyed a champagne toast.

Southern Belle offers a number of services to include Botox and other facial injections, chemical peels, dermaplaning, waxing, microneedling, plant-based facials and weight loss treatment.

The medispa has clients of all ages, Buckner said, from those in their 20s up to the late 70s. She said these types of treatments were often hush-hush, but now people are more open about sharing their experiences. The treatments become confidence boosters, the owner said.

It was important to this new small business owner to find space in Maryville. She spent nine months getting the house ready. The property also had to be rezoned for commercial use.

“It has that historic Southern look,” Buckner said. “There just wasn’t anything else that looked like that. Because we are Southern Belle Aesthetics we needed that Southern feel.”

As for her own Southern roots, Buckner said she recently discovered through genealogy research that she is a sixth cousin to Dolly Parton. Pictures of the country music legend now grace the walls at Southern Belle.
