Blount Memorial Hospital completes sale of MorningView Village

MARYVILLE, Tenn. ( WATE ) — After months of financial issues and disputes with the Blount County government in need of resolution, Blount Memorial Hospital has completed the sale of the MorningView Village facility.

The sale was completed last week at a final sales price of $22,734,477. It comes after the hospital and county commission came to an agreement for the management of the facility and a resolution was passed earlier this year allowing the sale.

In March, officials shared that the sale would help the hospital battle some of its financial struggles, which had aided in the dispute with county commissioners.

That dispute over the management of the hospital between county leaders and the hospital began in 2022. A resolution was introduced earlier this year that was discussed and later passed by county commissioners with the aim of establishing a management plan for the hospital and ending litigation.

“We want to thank the Ocoee Foundation, Inc. for working with us to complete this transaction,” Josh West, a senior communications manager with Blount Memorial shared in an emailed statement. “We welcome them to Blount County, and look forward to working with the facilities to help support the care transition needs of patients.”

The assisted living neighborhood at MorningView Village is now owned by Ocoee Foundation, Inc. which is a nonprofit that owns and manages several assisted living, skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities across Tennessee and Wisconsin.
