MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The suspect in three separate armed robberies that happened within days of each other was arrested on Saturday by the Blount County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and Maryville Police officers.

Jeremy R. Smith, of Louisville, is facing three counts of aggravated robbery following his arrest on Saturday, July 20.

Smith was identified by the Maryville Police Department as a suspect after an early morning armed robbery at Casey’s on West Broadway. BCSO said the description of the suspect in the robbery matched the description of suspects in two other armed robberies.

On July 3, BCSO deputies responded to the Domino’s Pizza on Topside Road after a man reportedly came into the store and waved a handgun, demanding money. The man allegedly fired a round from the handgun. Then on July 15, personnel at the Kenjo Market on Alcoa Highway reported to Alcoa Police that a man fitting the same description came into the store and brandished a gun while demanding money.

No injuries were reported in any of the robberies.

Following the investigation into all three robberies, the BCSO SWAT team and Maryville Police took Smith into custody Saturday evening at Sandy Springs Park in Maryville without incident. Search warrants were executed on Smith’s vehicle and home, Officers found several pieces of evidence, including a handgun, a black mask, clothing investigators believe was worn during the robberies, and cash believed to have been taken during the robbery on July 20.

“I am relieved that this suspect is now in custody,” Maryville Police Chief Tony J. Crisp “Investigators with all of the involved agencies worked together to provide information and evidence that was instrumental in helping our investigator solve the case. I am proud of the partnership that we have with the other law enforcement agencies in Blount County. By all of us working together, we prevented Mr. Smith from attempting another robbery, and possibly someone getting injured or even killed.”

Smith is being held at the Blount County Correctional Facility on bonds totaling $45,000. He is expected in General Sessions court on July 25.
