MASON — Teenagers from Jackson and Tuscola counties were caught following a lengthy police pursuit that ended with a crash in Delhi Township on Wednesday morning.

No serious injuries were reported in the single-vehicle crash at Cedar Street and Holbrook Drive, which terminated a pursuit that began in Clinton County and continued into central Ingham County during the early morning hours.

A 17-year-old girl from Tuscola County was driving the suspects' car, and her passenger was a 17-year-old boy from Jackson County, the Ingham County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. Both teens were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, and the driver was later detained, officials said.

Sheriff's officials indicated they would seek felony weapons and fleeing-and-eluding charges against the driver. Both she and her passenger were cited for minor in possession of marijuana and alcohol. The Jackson boy was released to a guardian.

Deputies were alerted shortly before 3:30 a.m. that Bath Township police were pursuing a Dodge Challenger on U.S. 127 near Trowbridge Road. The officer lost sight of the car in the area of Dunckel Road.

The suspects' vehicle was later seen in Mason, where a city police officer tried to make contact with the driver at a gas station, sheriff's officials said. The driver sped off, heading north on Cedar Street.

"A deputy responding to the area to assist Mason PD narrowly avoided a head-on collision as he rounded a curve and came upon the suspect vehicle driving northbound in the southbound lane at an extremely high rate of speed," officials said in the release.

The suspects crashed at the roundabout at Cedar Street and Holbrook Drive south of Holt, and the driver was eventually lodged at the Ingham County Youth Center.
