Man facing assault charges cut off ankle monitor after leaving NH hospital, officials say
LACONIA, N.H. — A Belknap County inmate who ran away from a hospital after cutting his ankle bracelet off was captured in South Boston, corrections officials said. Anthony Clark, 41, was facing charges of second-degree assault, domestic violence and strangulation. He had been awaiting trial in Belknap County Jail since January.
League of NH Craftsmen board sees wave of resignations, says annual fair will still go on
When the League of NH Craftsmen kicks off its annual fair in Newbury this weekend, it’ll be doing so without its board chair and four other board members. Those five people — representing half of the organization’s 10-member board — resigned in July, according to an email sent to league members earlier this week. In that email, the organization said the resignations were “unrelated” to the fair. That event, in its 91st year, typically draws hundreds of artisans and thousands of visitors to Mount Sunapee Resort each summer.

Seacoast communities compete to see who can support the most clean energy
Starting today, Seacoast communities are competing to see which town or city can get the most residents to support clean energy through their electric bill. Dover, Durham, Newmarket, Portsmouth and Exeter are challenging households enrolled in local community power programs to opt for slightly higher electric rates that represent larger shares of renewable energy. The competition runs through the end of January 2025, when utilities across the state will again change their rates on their biannual cycle.
